Is Public Transit for you?

The University's Transit Program offers incentives and discounts to full-time students, faculty, and staff using the Metrorail/Metrobus, Tri-Rail, and Miami-Dade “Park and Ride” express buses.

Full-time students receive 50% off the monthly mobile pass for Metrorail/Metrobus and the Easy Card for Tri-Rail.

Faculty and Staff with full-time status receive a Metrorail/Metrobus and Tri-Rail pass at a discounted rate based on annual salary. Click here to check the discount chart for the monthly cost structure. To join the program complete the Employee Metro Rail/Tri-Rail Pass Election: by the 14th of the month.

Vendors and Contractors can also take advantage of discount fares and transfer programs offered by Miami Dade Transit. Some discount categories include Golden Passport, Patriot Passport (Military Veterans), Commuter Reduced Fare, and People with Disabilities. Click here for more information.

Full-time students, to obtain your discount College Easy Pass follow the steps below. Passes may be purchased between the 20th of each month for use on the 1st of the following month. If purchased between the 1st to the 10th of a month, it will become available for immediate use. 

  1. Download the Go Miami mobile application at Google Play or the Apple Store.
  2. Register with Go Miami using your miami.edu credentials.
  3. Purchase a monthly pass before the 10th of each month. The pass can be purchased after 3 p.m.
  4. Tap and Go using your mobile app for Metrorail and Metro-bus entry.

For technical assistance with the app, contact Miami-Dade County Transit at 786-469-5151, select option 1, and then option 5. 

Full-time students, to join the discount program, you will need to visit one of the Tri-Rail kiosk centers with your UM ID and class schedule for the semester. Please contact 1(800) 874-7245 to find the available times to obtain the Easy Card at the closest station near you. For additional assistance, please click here to submit a request.

In the event of an EMERGENCY

Make sure you enroll in the Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program through this link and receive 6 ERH vouchers when you register for your Metro-Rail commute. You must register each year.
