Parking FAQ

A parking permit is required to park a motor vehicle on campus. This helps in ensuring parking availability for the university community. If visiting without a parking arrangement, please use the parking meters (PayByPhone or the Pay Stations) to purchase a temporary pass, or click here to submit a request to our office. Restrictions may apply.

Parking permit season sales normally start in July and the exact date is based on group classification, (i.e. resident student, returning student, new student, etc.). However, a parking permit can be purchased at any given time throughout the year and is subject to availability.

Students, new Faculty, and Staff can access their parking portal and purchase a parking permit once permit sales are open for their respective groups.

First-year resident students are not authorized to have a vehicle on campus. Contact our office for other mobility options.

As a student, yes, you must stop by the office and bring in the vehicle registration showing ownership to you or your rental agreement.

Yes; however, this will not link the vehicle to your permit therefore you may still receive citations. Also, by doing this, you are assuming responsibility for the vehicle and any citations it may receive.

You are responsible for any citations given to vehicles associated with your account unless someone else claims ownership.

Yes, a disabled placard allows you to park in any disabled space throughout campus; however, a valid parking permit (including for visitors) is required.

Being late does not allow the driver the privilege of parking illegally.

Registration can be done at the University of Miami Police Department, located at 5665 Ponce de Leon STE 101, Coral Gables, FL 33146. This is also where you can pick up your free U-Lock.

Special events may require closing or restricting access to those lots surrounding the event. In these instances, alternative locations will be made available for impacted permit holders.
