    Permit Application Process

    Students may apply for a parking permit during the annual sign-up period.

    • An email will be sent with the designated registration dates to all students before the start of each permit sale.
    • Once logged into the University parking system, you will be shown the available color zones for purchase.
    • Permit availability is based on capacity and demand.
    • The permit sales season is set based on the following order: Resident Students > Returning Commuter Students > New Commuter Students

    Parking Requirements

    All vehicles parked on campus must:

    • Have a valid University of Miami parking permit and park head-in only.
    • Only park in lots or garages where the entrance signage matches your permit’s color zone designation from 8 am to 4 pm on weekdays. Reference the university's parking map for more details.
    • Follow all university parking rules and regulations, which are strictly enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. Failure to comply may result in citations, immobilization, towing, or disciplinary action.

    Nights and weekends Permit

    The Nights & Weekends Permit is an alternative parking option valid:

    • Monday–Friday: 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    • Weekends: All day

    This permit is not valid between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.

    Eligibility for this permit is limited to commuter students only.

    Important Notice – Outstanding Citations

    Students with an unpaid parking citation balance are not eligible to purchase a parking permit until the balance is paid in full. Payments may be made through the parking portal.


    Resident Student Parking

    Resident students who are eligible to have a vehicle on campus must purchase a valid University of Miami parking permit during the designated registration period.

    Eligibility

    • First-year resident freshmen are not eligible for a parking permit. 
    • All other resident students must register their vehicles and obtain an approved parking permit before parking on campus.
    • University village parking permits are not eligible to park on campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

    Assigned Parking Areas

    Resident permits are valid only in designated residential parking areas and garages assigned at the time of purchase. Parking access is based on availability and housing location.

    • Lakeside Village and Eaton Residential - Pavia and Levante Garages (4th floor to 6th floor only)
    • University Village - Scodella and Albenga Garage only
    • Mahoney Pearson Residential - Teal (Mahoney Pearson Garage) only

    Parking in unauthorized zones may result in a citation, immobilization, or towing.

    Vehicle Storage

    Vehicles may be stored in a designated parking garage on campus during the winter and summer breaks. A request must be submitted to the Office of Parking & Transportation to coordinate storage.

    • Winter Break 
      • Available from the week of Fall Commencement through the January housing reopening date
      • No in/out access during winter break
    • Summer Break 
      • Available from the week of Spring Commencement through the August housing reopening date
      • In/out access permitted Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
    • Storage Requirements
      • Approval must be granted before storage
      • A valid UM parking permit is required
      • Vehicles must be parked with the license plate facing the driving lane
      • Commuter students are not eligible for vehicle storage

    NOTICE FOR THIS SUMMER:

    • The Mahoney-Pearson garage will be closed with no access.
    • Vehicle storage will be at the Pavia and Levante garages, which will stay open throughout the summer. All vehicles must be parked on floors 4 - 6.

  • FACULTY/STAFF

    Faculty and Staff Parking Requirement

    All faculty and staff parking vehicles on the Coral Gables campus must have a valid University of Miami parking permit and park head-in only.

    • Each permit is assigned to a designated color zone. Faculty and staff may park only in lots or garages where the entrance signage matches their assigned color zone.
    • Parking regulations are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
    • For complete details, refer to the Parking Policies & Procedures. Compliance with these guidelines is the most effective way to avoid citations, immobilization, towing, or potential disciplinary action.

    Permit Information

    Continuous Permits

    For Coral Gables faculty and staff, parking permits are continuous.

    • If you currently hold an active permit, no further action is required.
    • You will receive an annual email confirmation outlining your assigned color zone and updated permit cost.

    New Permit Requests

    Faculty or staff who do not have an active permit may apply by logging into their parking account using the link at the top of this page or by submitting a request.

    Please note:

    • Preferred color zones may not be available at the time of purchase.
    • Contact the Parking Office for alternative options if your preferred zone is unavailable.

    Citation Balance Requirement

    Employees with unresolved parking citations totaling $51 or more are not eligible to purchase or renew a permit until their balance is reduced to $50 or less.

    • Continuous permit holder - If you have outstanding citations, please contact our office before the annual renewal period to avoid delays/cancellation during permit renewal.
    • Non-permit holders - Please note citation balance must be paid in order to obtain a parking permit. Please submit a request for available payment options.
    • Citation Payment - Citations may also be paid via the parking portal or by calling our office. MasterCard and Visa are accepted at the Parking Office.

  • VENDORS/CONTRACTORS

    Service and Delivery Supplier Guidelines

    All suppliers providing services to the University must adhere to established operational standards in compliance with University policies and the ordinances of the City of Coral Gables.

    Vendor/Contractor Campus Parking Requirements

    • All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid University of Miami parking permit and park head-in only.
    • For project-related work on the Coral Gables campus, vendors and contractors must coordinate directly with the assigned Facilities Operations & Planning project manager to facilitate parking arrangements before the start of the project.
    • For vendors providing ongoing service not related to a specific project, click here to submit an online request or coordinate with your manager/supervisor.
    • Parking regulations are strictly enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays.
    • Failure to comply may result in citation or immobilization.
    • Parking assignments are based on availability and operational needs.

    Long Term Parking

    Annual vendor, contractor, and visitor permits are available. To request a permit:

    • Submit an online request, or
    • Visit the Office of Parking & Transportation at:

    Short-Term Parking

    Metered parking spaces are designated for university visitors only and are not intended for vendor or contractor use unless otherwise authorized.

  • VISITORS

    Visitor Campus Parking Requirements

    Campus parking is strictly enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including weekends and holidays. All vehicles must park head-in only.

    Visitors should first follow any parking instructions provided by the hosting school, department, venue, or event organizer. If no specific instructions are provided, the options below apply.


    Daytime Parking

    Monday–Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

    Visitors may only park in designated metered spaces, as seen under the metered parking locations, using PayByPhone or a Pay Station between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. All other parking areas are restricted during that time. 

    Metered parking locations include:

    • Pavia Garage – Visitor Section Only
    • Levante Garage – Visitor Section Only
    • Memorial Drive (by Richter Library)
    • Yellow, Gray, and Burgundy color zones

    Payment automatically registers the vehicle’s license plate in the University parking system. If a vehicle is moved between color zones, a new parking session must be initiated.


    Nights & Weekends Parking

    Monday–Friday | 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    Weekends | All day

    Visitors may use the metered systems (PayByPhone or a Pay Station) to initiate a metered parking session for their vehicle. Please note the following:

    • metered options are open in all parking lots and garages during the nights and weekend hours except in service and restricted spaces.
    • A paid session is valid in any color zone.
    • Vehicles may move between lots and garages without starting a new session during the active time period.
    • Refer to the Visitor Parking Map for detailed locations.

    Long-Term Parking

    Long-term parking permit options are available to visitors and are intended for active use only and may not be used for vehicle storage. To request long-term parking:

    • Submit an online parking request, or 
    • Visit the Parking & Transportation Office:

    Payment Options

    Metered Parking (PayByPhone or Pay Station)

    • Hourly Rate: $2.75
    • Daily Maximum: $13.00 (4 hours or more)

    Transaction fees:

    • $0.35 transaction fee per session
    • $0.25 fee when extending a Pay Station session by phone

    All transactions must be completed using a bank card. Cash is not accepted.


    Parking Portal – Daily Permit

    Visitors may also purchase a daily parking permit in advance for $13.00.

    • Valid from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.
    • Allows parking across eligible areas during the active session
