    Responsible & Safe Riding

Using micromobility devices on campus is a shared responsibility. Help keep our community safe, accessible, and sustainable by following these key guidelines:

    Before You Ride

    • Register your device: Make sure your scooter or e-bike is registered per campus requirements.
    • Inspect your ride: Check brakes, tires, and lights before every trip.
    • Wear a helmet: Protect yourself with proper safety gear.
    • Ride solo: Only one rider per device for safety.

    While You Ride

    • Ride responsibly: Follow posted speed limits and always yield to pedestrians.
    • Use designated paths: Stay in bike lanes or shared pathways, never on sidewalks, in buildings, or in restricted areas.
    • Stay alert: Watch for vehicles, pedestrians, and other riders at intersections and crosswalks.
    • Follow the rules: Comply with the University of Miami Micromobility Policy and all local traffic laws.
    • Report issues: If you see unsafe behavior or hazards, contact UMPD at 305-284-6666 immediately.
      • Tip: Riding responsibly helps keep the U a safe, sustainable place for everyone.

    Safe Parking

    • Use marked zones: Park only in designated micromobility areas shown on the Micromobility Map.
    • Keep routes clear: Never block sidewalks, entrances, ramps, or accessible pathways.
    • Stand upright: Make sure your scooter or e-bike is balanced and stable.
    • Avoid damage: Don’t park on grass or against trees, benches, or handrails.
    • Be considerate: Leave space for pedestrians and other riders.
    • Plan ahead: Review the Micromobility Policy and Micromobility Map before you ride.
      • Quick check: If your device blocks a path, someone else’s day just got harder. Please park thoughtfully.
